Can I use my wall tile on the floor?

Most definitely, no. Wall tiles are thinner, slippery, and not meant to withstand the weight of people walking.

Every tile type has its strength and absorbency levels. They determine where and how it is used.

Read labels thoroughly and describe your project to the experts in the tile store. The right or wrong type will impact your remodeling project.

What is C-3?

That, or C-4, is what you want when shopping for your home. This is the best rating for residential use. The "C" stands for a category, a 1 to 5 rating system.

As the numbers increase, so does the strength. For instance, 1 is a wall tile, 2 is meant for indoor low-traffic floors, and so on.

Porcelain is considered the most durable. It's heavy, dense, and non-absorbent.

Porcelain comes in a large assortment of colors and patterns and can be made to look like anything. However, it's often preferred for wood or stone looks.

The 4 X 4 square is best for moderately busy floors. In addition, it is used on backsplashes, countertops, and tub/shower surrounds.

Terracotta bricks are so durable they can be used indoors or out. Somewhat porous; ask about sealing to make cleaning easier.

Mosaics: trending floor tile for the bath

It’s not unusual to see these highly decorative pieces on the bathroom floor. These often glass-coated pieces are tiny, often as small as 1 X 1, but durable and mold/mildew resistant.
